Time Change

So, as though daylight savings wasn't confusing enough already it turns out that it starts at different times in different countries. What this means for us is that DST just started (or ended, whatever) here in NZ on Saturday night. We did Spring ahead (because its Spring here) so instead of it being noon here it would be 1:00pm. Now, back in the States DST hasn't happened yet so for the next few weeks you all are going to be 17 hours behind us (all examples are for Washignton, DC). That means that when it is 5:00pm here it is midnight there. However, you guys will "fall back" on the 29th of October (I think) so after that you guys will be 18 hours behind us. Meaning that at 12:00 noon in NZ it will be 6:00pm there. Now, I find all of this very confusing and it is likely that I have made a mistake somewhere so correct me if I'm wrong.

In the theoretical state of Palestine and its neighbor Israel, what time it is depends on who you ask. Palestinians show resistance by not changing at the same time as Israelis. Given how intertwined life is (or was) it was hard to guess sometimes what time someone thought it was. Of course, asking could get rather tricky.

You know, in Arizona, one of the finer states in the union, they don't bother with DST, which also gets confusing...
